These Victorian brass wall sconces exemplify the Adam Revival style, finished in a polished gold colour that catches the eye. Each piece displays a ribbon bow cresting at the top, a central urn-shaped stem, scrolling candle arms, and drop finials at the base. The matched pair shows smooth cast surfaces with crisp mouldings, clean circular candle cups, and distinct tiered wall plates. Every component exhibits traditional neoclassical symmetry and formal proportions associated with grand Regency interiors. Each sconce measures 34 cm wide, 24 cm high, and 11 cm deep. In a modern home, such wall lights suit placement above a sideboard in a dining room, flanking a fireplace in a drawing room, or mounted on either side of a hallway mirror to provide warm, ambient illumination. Their reflective metal surfaces complement both traditional period properties and contemporary spaces seeking a touch of classical elegance. Installation requires standard wall mounting hardware suitable for secure hanging.

Adam Revival design originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing direct inspiration from the 18th-century Neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam. The style incorporates symmetrical forms, slender proportioning, and Classical decorative motifs such as ribbon bows, urns, swags, and fan details.

These sconces were primarily cast in brass or bronze, often chased to define surface texture before being polished, lacquered, or silver-plated. The backplates were cast in sections and fitted with solid brass branches to support standard wax candles.

Authentic pieces exhibit cast metal construction with distinct joinery lines, threaded candle nozzle attachments, and evidence of hand-finishing along the edges. Look for balanced Classical symmetry, crisp detail in relief elements such as bow crests, and natural oxidisation within recessed areas.

Twin-arm sconces are frequently installed in pairs to frame central architectural features such as fireplaces, mirrors, or sideboards. Mounting them at eye level provides balanced illumination while enhancing vertical wall height and linear symmetry within a room scheme.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to prevent dust accumulation in detailed carvings. To preserve polished or lacquered metal finishes, avoid abrasive cleansers and harsh chemical polishes, removing excess wax build-up by gently softening it with warm air and wiping clean.
