Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Afshar rugs originate from the nomadic Afshar tribe settled around the Kerman region in southeastern Iran. Renowned for incorporating Turkic and Persian design traditions, these carpets feature bold geometric patterns, stylised flora, and structured stepped medallions.

Traditionally woven by hand using locally sourced hand-spun wool for the pile, these rugs often utilise wool or cotton warp and weft foundations. The yarns are dyed using natural vegetable and mineral sources, creating rich indigo, madder red, and terracotta tones.

Authentic pieces feature asymmetrical or symmetrical hand-tied knots, flexible cloth-like handles, and minor abrash colour variations from small-batch dyeing. Design characteristics include large central stepped medallions, geometric repeat motifs, and multi-banded borders.

An antique tribal rug introduces grounding texture and contrast to contemporary spaces. Placing a dark indigo and red carpet against neutral timber or stone flooring anchors living room seating areas or dining rooms effectively.

Vacuum regularly using suction only to avoid damaging the pile with a beater bar. Rotate the rug annually to balance sun exposure and foot traffic, and use a high-quality rug pad underneath to prevent fiber compression.
