Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837, these pieces bridge the Regency and early Victorian eras. They typically feature heavy architectural mouldings, flame mahogany veneers, astragal glazed upper doors, and a drop-front secretaire drawer fitted with small drawers and pigeonholes.

These cabinets were constructed using solid mahogany framework combined with figure-matched flame mahogany veneers. Craftsmanship features include hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, oak or pine secondary drawer linings, hand-blown float glass, and brass hardware such as lion mask ring handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-planed secondary timbers, hand-cut dovetails, original brass locks, and subtle irregularity in the hand-cut glass panes. The secretaire mechanism usually includes a original felt or leather writing surface and secret release catches.

Position the piece in a study, library, or living room to create a functional focal point. Modern styling involves pairing dark mahogany wood with contemporary art on adjacent walls, organizing glazed shelves with curated ceramics, and using the drop-front drawer as a home office workstation.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice a year following the timber grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement and wood fading.
