Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A castle top silver card case is a nineteenth-century pocket accessory embossed or chased with relief views of prominent British landmarks, castles, or stately homes. Popularised during the early Victorian period, these cases were crafted to hold visiting cards used in social calls.

These cases were typically formed from sterling silver sheets using die-stamping techniques to create high-relief views, followed by hand-chasing to refine intricate architectural details. The pieces were finished with hinged lids and hand-engraved scrollwork or acanthus motifs.

Authentic nineteenth-century British silver cases feature a complete set of hallmarks, including the monarchs head duty mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office symbol, a makers mark, and a specific date letter indicating the year of production.

Small silver objects can be styled on an office desk, displayed inside a glazed shadow box on a gallery wall, or arranged on a decorative tray alongside other silver desk accessories to add historical interest.

Maintain sterling silver by gently wiping it with a soft silver-polishing cloth to remove light tarnish, avoiding abrasive pastes that can wear down detailed relief work. Store the piece in a dry, tarnish-inhibiting cloth bag when not on display.
