This Maison Bagues floor lamp dates to 1930 in the Hollywood Regency style. It is made from heavy cast brass with a bright polished finish, paired with a black woven fabric lampshade. The standard lamp stands on a curved tripod base with splayed feet, supporting a segmented faux bamboo stem that terminates in pointed finials, and carries a cylindrical shade. The lamp measures 146 cm high, 36 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, and can be adjusted for height. Place this standing light in an empty corner of a living room, library, or hallway to provide ambient illumination. The warm brass tones and dark textile shade complement various interior decorative schemes while adding functional upward and downward light to domestic spaces.

Maison Bagues standard lamps are characterised by fine metalwork, often executing naturalistic forms such as faux bamboo, botanical stems, and organic tripod bases. Produced during the twentieth century in Paris, these lights bridged classic French decorative arts with modern mid-century glamour.

These lamps are typically constructed from cast or turned solid brass, engineered to mimic the nodes and texture of natural bamboo cane. They are frequently finished with lacquer or left unvarnished to develop a natural patina over time.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy cast brass construction, sharp detailing on the node cast joints, and balanced tripod bases. Wiring channels are carefully concealed within the stem, and original brass fittings or switches often display age-appropriate oxidisation.

Position the lamp in an empty corner or beside a sofa to introduce vertical structure and metallic warmth. Pairing a dark or textured drum shade with the bright brass creates balanced contrast alongside modern upholstered furniture.

Dust the brass stem regularly using a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or chemical polishes, as these can strip protective lacquers or alter the established surface patina.
