Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dip pens gained widespread popularity in the nineteenth century, replacing quill pens following the mass manufacture of steel nibs. Sterling silver versions were produced as luxury desktop items, crafted by notable silversmiths to signify status and refinement during the Victorian era.

These pens typically feature a solid sterling silver barrel shaped through engine turning, fluting, or hand chasing. A metal mechanism or collar at the tip secures replaceable steel or gold nibs into place.

Authenticity is determined by examining British silver hallmarks, which include the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and makers initials such as S.M for Sampson Mordan. The weight and precision of the fluted decoration also indicate period craftsmanship.

Position the pen alongside a leather blotter, vintage inkwell, or brass stationery rack on an executive desk or library table to create an authentic dark academia or traditional office aesthetic.

Clean the silver barrel gently using a soft, non-abrasive silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish without stripping natural patination. Ensure the nib holder remains dry after use to prevent corrosion or metal degradation.
