Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mouseman furniture originated in Kilburn, North Yorkshire, created by craftsman Robert Thompson during the early to mid-twentieth century. The style is aligned with the British Arts and Crafts movement, focusing on hand-worked English oak, traditional joinery, and functional designs free from artificial finishes.

Hand-adzed furniture relies on solid English oak shaped using an adze, a traditional woodworking tool with a curved blade. This tool creates a subtly undulating, textured surface that reflects light across the wood grain, combined with mortise and tenon joinery for durability.

Authentic pieces feature a distinct high-relief carved mouse motif integrated into the structure, such as along a leg or support bar. Genuine items exhibit hand-adzed tooling marks across flat surfaces and possess a warm, aged wax patina without synthetic lacquers.

An adzed oak stool functions effectively as a sculptural accent beside a sofa, an organic side table in a reading nook, or a decorative element placed near a fireplace hearth. Its natural wood tones offer texture and contrast within minimalist or contemporary rooms.

Oak furniture should be kept away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement. Dusting with a dry, soft cloth and applying a high-grade clear beeswax polish once or twice a year maintains the natural patina and protects the timber.
