Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Novelty silver pin cushions are small decorative sewing implements produced during the Edwardian era, often crafted in figurative forms such as swans, pigs, shoes, or rollers. These pieces combined practical function with ornamental charm, featuring a sterling silver casing that holds a velvet or fabric pad for needles.

These items typically consist of a cast or stamped sterling silver body, hallmarked by British assay offices such as Birmingham or Chester, paired with a tightly packed velvet, plush, or emery insert designed to hold pins securely without rusting.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarks indicating the sterling silver purity mark (passant lion), the assay office mark (such as an anchor for Birmingham), a date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period (19011910, extending stylistically into the early 1910s), and a makers mark.

A silver pin cushion functions well as a small decorative accent on a writing desk, a dressing table, or curated shelf display alongside vintage haberdashery or trinket boxes to add texture and historical interest.

Gently wipe the silver surfaces with a soft silver polishing cloth, taking care to avoid getting liquid polishes on the delicate fabric insert. Store the piece away from high humidity to prevent oxidisation and preserve the original cushion material.
