Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian bureau bookcase typically dates from the early 20th century and incorporates a slant-front writing bureau topped by a glazed display cabinet. Design features often draw inspiration from 18th-century revival styles, utilizing light woods like satinwood with decorative marquetry and geometric glazing bars.

These pieces feature satinwood veneers laid over secondary timbers such as pine or mahogany. Construction methods include hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass drop handles, fine marquetry crossbanding, and individual glass panes set into wooden astragal glazing bars.

Authentic Edwardian furniture shows signs of age such as natural wear on drawer runners, original brass lock mechanisms, and uneven oxidation on timber surfaces. Examining drawer construction for hand-cut joints and checking for period-accurate veneer thicknesses also helps verify age.

Position the piece against a neutral backdrop to highlight the warm satinwood grain. Use the upper shelves to display modern ceramic items or structured book arrangements, while keeping the slant flap closed or open as a functional laptop desk.

Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to avoid veneer warping or fading. Dust regularly with a clean microfiber cloth and apply high-grade beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the timber finish.
