Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this Antique Dagestan Prayer Rug to the 1850s.
Antique Caucasian Dagestan prayer rug with floral lattice on an ivory ground.
Circa 1850/60.
The rug has a fine lattice containing flowers which are beautifully drawn and stand out against the ivory ground. The border designs are typical of those found within this region. Note the use of green in the design within the centre of the mihrab, and the stars in the hand placements either side.

This rug is in hard to find un-touched original condition, with no repairs at all, there is very slight even wear and almost full pile. The rug is finely knotted with soft wool and superb dye quality. There are some very small areas of wear to the lower right hand corner and to a few places on the side bindings. We would be happy to quote to restore these areas if required. The rug has not been washed and has a good patina. Both ends retain the original kilim and end finishes, there are slight losses to the tassels in places.
This is a highly collectible rug that would make a superb wall hanging.
