The Chelsea Bijouterie Ltd has dated this Triple Strand Pearl Necklace to the 1950s.
The necklace comprises three softly graduated strands of beautifully matched cultured pearls. Their creamy ivory colour, delicate pink overtones and attractive lustre give the necklace a wonderfully flattering appearance, while the graduated strands fall gracefully around the neckline.
The pearls graduate from approximately 3.8mm to 7.6mm, with the three strands measuring 15", 16¼" and 17½". This carefully balanced arrangement creates a lovely layered effect without feeling heavy or overly formal.
The necklace is completed by an elegant navette-shaped clasp crafted in 9ct white gold. Inspired by the geometric designs of the Art Deco period, the clasp is centred with a 3.5mm diamond and further decorated with eight smaller diamonds. Geometric diamond-shaped sections and delicate millegrain detailing give the clasp an intricate, jewel-like quality.
The clasp is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1959 and bears the maker's initials JR, providing the necklace with an exact date and an appealing connection to post-war British jewellery design.
Recently professionally restrung in June 2026, the necklace is ready to wear and is in excellent condition.
