Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

This pair of Anglo-Indian table lamps originates from 1910 and takes the form of turned walnut baluster columns in a dark brown finish. Each lamp features intricate foliate relief carving across the main body, stepped circular bases with reeded and patterned mouldings, and brass electrical fittings at the top. The visible components include the carved wooden surfaces, the dark brown colouration of the walnut, and the turned decorative profiles. Standing 37 cm high to the top of the fitting, these table lamps fit well on a sideboard top or a desk within a gentleman's library or a study. They connect via brown flex cords with plugs and are suited for placement in living rooms, hallways or reading spaces to provide accent illumination.

FAQs

Kashmiri carved wood lighting originates from northern India, renowned for intricate hand-carved floral and foliate relief patterns traditionally executed on native walnut timber.

These lamp bases are predominantly crafted from dense walnut wood, valued for its fine grain, strength, and rich brown colour, combined with brass lamp fittings.

Authentic pieces display continuous hand-carved relief work, such as chinar leaf or lotus motifs, showing organic variations in carving depth and detailing across the turned column.

Position the pair symmetrically on a sideboard or console table, fitted with simple neutral linen shades to contrast with the detailed dark wood carving.

Dust regularly using a soft dry brush to clean within the relief carving, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to preserve the natural timber.
