Art Deco George VI Condiment Set, Made by William Neale

Description

Art Deco George VI condiment set, made by William Neale and retailed through Mappin and Webb. Encased in a blue velvet and silk lined box, it comprises of 2 lidded mustard pots, one with its colbalt blue glass liner, 2 open salts, each with a colbalt blue glass liner, 2 pepperettes and four spoons for the salt and mustard. The straight edged, geometric facets are highly characteristic of the George VI period and Art Deco tableware.

Silver weight is 224g, with a current silver value of £380 (June 2026).

The hallmarks include the anchor for Birmingham, the lion passant, reflecting it is sterling silver and the letter ‘P’ for 1939.

The set in overall very good condition, and to note one of the mustard pots is without a glass liner and only one spoon is original and marked with WN for William Neale, although the other three work well, as shown in the photographs.
