Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dated 1906 and fully hallmarked for London, this Edwardian solid sterling silver tray displays an opulent Rococo-style repoussé design with bursting florals, curling vines, scrolling acanthus leaves, and a scalloped border moulding. The central unengraved cartouche is surrounded by layered roses, daisies, chrysanthemums, and grape clusters in silver relief, showing crisp detailing throughout and light surface wear with a warm patina. The rectangular piece measures 29 cm high by 20 cm wide. Placed upon a sideboard top in an English Country House, the tray serves as a decorative display object or catchall dish for small trinkets and personal items. It functions equally well on a dressing table or hall console, bringing traditional metalwork into daily domestic routines.

FAQs

Edwardian sterling silver trays, created between 1901 and 1910, frequently feature elaborate Rococo Revival motifs, intricate floral repousse work, scrolling foliage, and asymmetric cartouches.

The repousse technique involves hammering the reverse side of sheet metal to create designs in raised relief, followed by detailing from the front using fine chasing tools.

Authentic British Edwardian silver displays clear hallmark stamps, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, a city assay mark, a date letter, and a registered makers mark.

Place the tray on a dressing table or vanity counter to organize perfume bottles and jewellery, incorporating historical detail into a functional contemporary space.

Clean gently with a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to preserve the natural oxidisation in the deeper recessed relief patterns.
