Cranberry glass is a pinkish-red glass made by adding gold chloride to molten glass, achieving peak popularity during the Victorian era and the late 19th century.

These items typically combine blown or pressed glass with hand-cut decorative motifs, frequently paired with sterling silver spoons manufactured by regional silversmiths.

Authenticity is determined by examining the depth and sharpness of the hand-cut facets, pontil marks on the base, glass weight, and clear hallmarks on accompanying silver spoons.

They can be displayed on a dining table centre, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or utilized as small decorative catchalls on a sideboard top to add historic character.

Clean the glass using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives, and polish the silver components carefully with a non-abrasive silver cloth.
