FAQs

Art Deco silver-plated cocktail trays produced during the 1920s and 1930s typically feature structured geometric silhouettes balanced with classic motifs such as shell corners, stepped rims, or gadrooned borders. They were created to serve beverages during the rise of home cocktail culture.

These trays were commonly manufactured using Electroplated Nickel Silver (EPNS) or electroplated Britannia metal, where a thin layer of pure silver was electrochemically deposited onto a durable base metal alloy.

Authentic pieces generally display manufacturer makers marks or stamps on the underside, such as EPNS or specific maker logos. Furthermore, authentic early 20th-century construction exhibits heavy core metals, sharp casting details along borders, and natural patination or tarnish.

A silver cocktail tray can be placed on a sideboard, coffee table, or bar cart to group crystal decanters, glassware, or candles, creating an organized focal point that reflects light across polished surfaces.

Silver-plated items should be cleaned using non-abrasive silver polishes or soft cotton cloths specifically impregnated with silver cleaner to prevent wearing down the electroplated layer. Wash gently in warm water with mild soap and dry immediately with a lint-free cloth.
