A Large Murano Millefiori Glass Bowl C1930

This exceptionally large circular exhibition size glass bowl or table centre piece is a rare example from Murano glass which is located on the Italian island of Murano, known worldwide for its fine and colourful glassware.

This remarkable example is hand blown in clear glass infused with thin slices of millefiori canes in various colours, shapes and sizes.

The canes are smaller and more tightly packed at the centre of the bowl, and as the glass has been hand blown and spun to form its shape, the cane inclusions get stretched, making them larger and distorted around the edges, creating an interesting design.

The bowl is raised onto a solid, heavy, clear glass foot with a band of speckled gold inclusions at its centre.

The bowl retains its original red and gold paper label. Circa 1930 – 1950.

This superb, decorative bowl is in excellent original condition with no damage or repair.
