The George IV or Regency period is defined by a strong classical revival influence, drawing inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome, often featuring clean architectural lines, bronze casting, and restrained classical ornamentation.

These pieces are typically constructed using cast bronze or brass, often utilising lost-wax casting methods combined with hand-finishing, patination, and mounted on heavy square plinths for stability.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the natural patination of the bronze, the weight and density of the metal, assembly methods such as threaded rods or hand-cut screws, and signs of period-appropriate wear and oxidisation.

Pair these lamps with neutral lampshades to soften the dark metal, and place them on wooden sideboards, mantels, or desks to introduce textural contrast and historic gravitas to a room.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes, which can strip the historic patina and damage the metal finish.
