This French Rococo Revival chandelier dates from 1930 and follows a classic French Chateau design. It is manufactured from cast brass with a gold finish and white frosted glass. The fixture comprises a central fluted and reeded body suspended by a ribbon-moulded top and large ring, supporting three arms decorated with leaf motifs and cherub head reliefs. Three tulip-shaped frosted glass shades with minor leaf-edge losses complete the composition, paired with large bayonet bulb holders. The dimensions are 49 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 52 cm deep. Today, this hanging light fits well in domestic reception rooms, hallways, or dining areas, adding period character to traditional or eclectic interiors. The gold-toned metalwork combines with the pale floral glass shades to suit spaces seeking a decorative overhead lighting fixture with sculptural details.

Rococo style brass chandeliers typically feature asymmetric scrolls, naturalistic foliage motifs, cherub heads, and cast metal ornamentation developed in 18th-century France and revived in subsequent eras.

These lighting fixtures are traditionally crafted from cast brass or bronze, often combined with moulded, frosted, or etched glass shades to softly diffuse light.

Authentic cast brass pieces exhibit subtle seam marks from moulding, natural surface oxidisation in recessed areas, and substantial weight compared to modern hollow or painted reproductions.

Position the chandelier as a central statement feature in a dining room, hallway, or bedroom, pairing it with neutral wall tones to highlight the warm metallic patina.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth, wash removable glass shades separately in warm soapy water, and avoid abrasive chemical polishes that can strip natural patina.
