Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian Rococo Revival silver is distinguished by elaborate decorative motifs inspired by 18th-century French design. Key features include asymmetric scrollwork, floral repousse, shell forms, and heavily textured chasing across the exterior surfaces.

These boxes were constructed from solid sterling silver, composed of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for durability. Artisans formed the structure through hammer raising and casting, applying decorative detail via repousse (pushing metal from the inside) and chasing (indenting detail from the exterior).

Authentic British sterling silver features a standardized set of hallmarks stamped into the metal. Look for the lion passant for silver purity, an assay office symbol (such as the leopards head for London), a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, and a makers mark.

A sterling silver box functions as a refined accent piece when placed on a bedroom dressing table, a hallway console, or a study desk. It can be used as a functional container for personal keepsakes, desk accessories, or everyday jewellery while contrasting with contemporary timber or stone surfaces.

Maintain sterling silver by wiping it periodically with a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth designed for silver care. Avoid harsh chemical dips or abrasive creams that can strip historical patina from recessed areas, and store the box in a dry environment to minimise tarnish.
