Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian silver condiment set is a coordinated ensemble of dining vessels designed to hold salt, pepper, and mustard during formal meals. Popularised in the nineteenth century, these sets reflected British dining etiquette and were frequently sold in fitted presentation cases.

These sets were constructed using sterling silver containing 92.5 percent pure silver, shaped via casting and raising techniques. Decorative motifs were applied using repousse hammering and chasing, while presentation boxes were built with timber covered in leatherette and lined with velvet and satin.

Authentic British pieces bear official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. Pieces from the Victorian era typically feature the sovereigns head duty mark stamped prior to 1890.

A boxed silver condiment set can be styled open on a dining room sideboard, inside a glazed display cabinet, or arranged as decorative tableware on a drinks trolley. Combining polished silver with contemporary ceramics or dark wood surfaces creates an engaging visual contrast.

Clean sterling silver using a specialised silver polishing cloth or gentle cream polish, washing thoroughly with warm water to remove residue. Salt cellars and mustard pots must be cleaned promptly after use, as salt causes rapid oxidisation and pitting of silver surfaces.
