Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A silver cruet or condiment set is a coordinated collection of small vessels created to contain table seasonings such as pepper, salt, and mustard. Popularised in Western dining during the 18th and early 20th centuries, these sets were designed both for practical table use and as decorative displays of formal dining etiquette.

Cruet sets are typically constructed from sterling silver or silver plate, often featuring hand-spun, cast, or pressed elements. Salt cellars and mustard pots within these sets frequently incorporate glass linerscommonly cobalt blueto protect the metal from the corrosive effects of salt and food acids.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces feature a series of stamped hallmarks, usually found on the base or side of each vessel. These include the makers mark, the town mark denoting the assay office, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, and a date letter signifying the year of manufacture.

A silver cruet set can be displayed inside its open presentation box on a sideboard, styled on a dining table centrepiece tray, or placed within a glass cabinet alongside other vintage tableware to introduce a touch of period metallic detail to a contemporary space.

Silver should be cleaned periodically using a soft, lint-free cloth and a specialized silver polish to remove tarnish caused by oxidisation. Washing with mild soapy warm water is recommended after use, ensuring all components are dried thoroughly before returning to storage.
