Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian pair of antique sterling silver grape shears dates to 1903 and comes complete with an original presentation case. The implements display intricately pierced foliate scrollwork along the handles, a decorative floral pivot boss, and plain polished steel blades. The fitted case features a dark exterior, a vivid green velvet lining inside the lower section, and a gathered cream silk interior to the lid. Hallmarks for Sheffield appear on the metal, alongside silversmith marks for Mappin and Webb. The case carries a retailer stamp for the same firm on Queen Victoria Street in London. Measuring 3 cm high, 20 cm wide and 10 cm deep when closed, these scissors weigh 106.5 grams. Collectors and period home enthusiasts place such silver accessories on a sideboard top for display or use them during formal dining occasions. The polished silver reflects candlelight, while the textured handles provide a secure grip during use. The presentation case protects the piece when not in service, keeping the soft velvet and silk linings pristine. These grape shears suit traditional dining rooms and English Country House interiors, complementing period tableware and antique silverware collections.

Grape shears were specialized table implements used during formal dining courses to cut small bunches of grapes from a larger bunch without damaging the fruit or crushing individual stem branches.

These pieces were crafted from solid sterling silver, often decorated with pierced, cast, or hand-chased foliate patterns, and presented in silk- and velvet-lined fitted wooden or leatherette cases.

Authentic pieces feature full British hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling silver, an assay town mark, a date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period, and a registered makers mark.

These decorative items are typically displayed open in their original fitted presentation cases on a dining room sideboard top, inside a glazed cabinet, or integrated into a curated drinks cart arrangement.

The silver components should be polished gently using a non-abrasive silver cloth to prevent tarnish, while the textile-lined case should be stored in a dry environment away from dampness and direct heat.
