Description

Impressive 19th century Ceylonese camphor wood and ebony trunk, circa 1850, of substantial size and weight.

Beautifully constructed in camphor wood with contrasting ebony banding and moulded edging, the trunk is further enhanced with decorative metal mounts and carrying handles to the sides.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a fully polished interior, complete with candle box compartment.

The lock is in working order and comes with a large, oversized key.

Raised on bold, turned feet which are removable for ease of transport, this is a striking and practical antique piece.

Presented in very good condition with a rich colour, a superb statement piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
