Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Italian Art Deco period table lamp dates from 1930 and combines clear cut crystal glass with an ivory coloured fabric shade. The shaped glass body includes six faceted icicle droplets suspended around the stem, a fluted base and a single switched bulb holder. It measures 39 cm high, 13 cm wide and 13 cm deep without the shade, reaching a height of 49 cm with the 30 cm wide lampshade attached. The electrical components have been rewired and PAT tested for modern use. Place this piece on a bedside table to add a touch of period glamour to a bedroom or guest room. The clear glass reflects surrounding light while the pleated shade diffuses a soft glow across the surface. Its compact footprint ensures it fits comfortably on smaller tables or desks without taking up excessive space, providing both functional illumination and a decorative period accent.

FAQs

Art Deco glass lighting emerged during the 1920s and 1930s, defined by geometric forms, stepped profiles, and high-clarity cut or moulded glass designed to refract light.

These lamps were constructed using lead crystal or heavy cut glass for the central column and base, nickel or chrome-plated brass for internal fittings, and silk or paper for shades.

Authentic pieces often exhibit precise hand-cut geometric facets, heavy leaded glass weight, period-correct brass or chrome bulb holders, and original glass lustre drops with metal pinning.

Place the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, marble-topped console, or bedside table to create contrast, allowing the faceted glass to reflect natural ambient light during the day.

Dust the shade with a soft brush and clean the glass stem and hanging droplets using a damp lint-free cloth mixed with a mild dishwashing solution, avoiding abrasive chemicals on metal fittings.
