Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The upper section contains open shelving alongside an arched burr walnut front panel decorated with a carved shell motif and vertical fluted pilasters, while the lower section includes a chest of three drawers with shaped, cockbeaded fronts and brass handles. The entire structure rests on graceful cabriole legs featuring finely carved shell knees and pad feet. Measuring 145.5 cm high, 52.5 cm wide and 35.5 cm deep, the unit offers practical storage within a compact footprint. Position this compact piece in a living room, hallway or study to hold books and display decorative items while adding traditional English country house character to the interior. The versatile two-part construction allows for ease of movement and placement in rooms with limited floor space. The piece is in very good condition with clean lines and clear wood grain patterns across all surfaces.

FAQs

Originating in the early 18th century, Queen Anne style furniture is characterised by graceful proportions, cabriole legs ending in pad or shell feet, and the prominent use of rich walnut veneers.

Queen Anne furniture typically features solid walnut timber paired with figure-rich burr walnut veneers, solid brass drop handles, and hand-dovetailed drawer joints.

Look for defining features such as slender cabriole legs with shell carvings at the knees, rich burr veneer patterning, arched top mouldings, and period-style brass hardware.

A slim walnut bookcase fits into alcoves, hallways, or study nooks, adding warm timber tones and geometric contrast when set against modern neutral walls.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth, apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice annually along the grain, and avoid direct exposure to radiators or harsh sunlight.
