Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often combined lighter, more refined proportions inspired by 18th-century Sheraton and Chippendale revivals with practical domestic functionality.

Traditional construction typically utilised solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut for the primary frame, paired with hand-blown or cylinder glass panes held securely in place by delicate wooden astragals.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct joinery, such as hand-cut dovetails, subtle signs of age in the timber like oxidation and shrinkage, and period hardware including brass or cast-iron locks and hinges.

Mounting the cabinet on a neutral or softly coloured wall allows the rich tones of the timber to stand out, while lining the interior or using it to display curated collections bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist aesthetics.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations to prevent warping, and clean surfaces periodically with a soft, dry cloth, applying natural beeswax sparingly when necessary.
