Exceptional quality late 19th.c. Gothic Revival bookcase in walnut c.1880. Single door with an ogee pointed arch shaped glazed panel. Fitted inside with four adjustable shelves (internal depth 13''). Over a useful drawer in the base. Deep moulded cornice with a carved quatrefoil blind tracery frieze. Further tracery carving to the top of the door, note also the large original brass lock plate with lovely chased decoration of Christ on the cross, a heraldic device and laurel wreaths. Flanking the door are a splendid pair of long twist carved columns with shaped capitals. Deep carved tracery decoration to the drawer front. Oak drawer lings with the original sliding dust cover. Panelled sides with chamfered surround. Oak lined interior and shelves. Excellent colour and condition. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
