Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Novelty figural pin cushions gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, manufactured predominantly by specialist silversmiths who crafted miniature animals, birds, and household objects to cater to affluent households and collectors of sewing paraphernalia.

These pieces were typically crafted using sterling silver or silver plate for the figural body, paired with an internal stuffing of sawdust or wool, and upholstered externally with plush velvet, silk, or satin to securely hold sewing pins.

Authenticity is usually verified by examining hallmarks stamped on the silver body for makers marks, metal standards, and date letters, alongside observing the natural wear, patination, and hand-finished details characteristic of early manufacturing techniques.

These small decorative items can be displayed as curated curiosities on a mantelpiece, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or styled on an office desk to add tactile historic charm and conversational detail to contemporary living spaces.

Silver components should be cleaned sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth designed for silver to preserve the underlying patina, avoiding abrasive polishes that might damage hallmarks, while textile elements must be kept away from moisture and direct sunlight.
