Edwardian silver novelty pin cushions are small, highly detailed sterling silver figures fitted with velvet cushions, produced extensively in Birmingham during the early 20th century as functional dressing table accessories.

These pieces are typically constructed from pressed or cast sterling silver bodies, often featuring inset glass eyes and stuffed with sawdust or wool beneath a velvet or silk upper insert.

Authenticity is verified by checking for clear British hallmarksincluding the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham, and a date letteralongside makers marks such as those for Adie & Lovekin.

These small decorative items are ideal for display on a vanity tray, dressing table, or within a glass-fronted cabinet alongside other fine silver miniatures.

Silver should be cleaned gently with a specialized microfibre cloth to avoid damaging the hallmarks or delicate embossed details, keeping the piece away from direct moisture to protect the inner stuffing.
