Edwardian silver mustard pots became popular during the early 20th century as part of elaborate dining services, often featuring intricate pierced work and contrasting cobalt blue glass liners.

These items were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as piercing, casting, and soldering, paired with a blown cobalt blue glass insert to contain the condiment.

Authentic pieces feature crisp British hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, including the makers mark, standard mark, assay office stamp for towns like Birmingham, and a date letter.

Such pieces can be displayed on a dining table, sideboard, or within a glass-fronted cabinet to add metallic texture and historical detail to contemporary settings.

Preserve silver by using non-abrasive microfibre cloths, specialised silver polish applied sparingly, and avoiding harsh chemicals or dishwashers to maintain the patina and protect any glass liners.
