A large antique oak chest, dating from the late 18th century. It is most likely continental and has a hinged lid opening on its original strap hinges. It is a good quality piece with raised geometric panels on the front, panelled sides and a planked top with moulded edge. It stands on bracket feet with a carved frieze.A great size for a coffee table, end of bed storage or even a TV stand.It is in good condition for its age and displays well. The oak has a lovely rich colour and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some signs of use and age, some general knocks and surface marks, minor shrinkage splits and a couple of old repairs but nothing detrimental and no major damages. There are some minor signs of old woodworm which has all been treated as a precaution.
