Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These 1930 Art Deco floor torcheres take the form of a pair of tall metal stands with slender tripod legs, circular ring bracing, and wide dish tops. Each piece stands in a dark bronze effect finish with a matching dark grey frame, complemented by polished copper drip pans at the summit and upright red candles placed inside. The visible details include renewed candle spikes, tripod feet, and circular bracing rings along the height of the frame. The set measures 122 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 25 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this pair suits placement in a fireplace alcove as decorative floor candle holders. They function well to provide ambient lighting while anchoring an unused hearth or hallway corner with period character.

FAQs

Originating in the 1920s and 1930s, an Art Deco torchere is a tall floor-standing light or candle holder designed to direct light upwards, featuring clean geometric lines and streamlined metallic forms.

Craftsmen commonly utilised metals such as wrought iron, steel, brass, bronze, and chrome, often finished with dark patination or polished surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-forged or period-appropriate metal joinery, structural symmetry, age-related patination, and design elements typical of early 20th-century decorative arts rather than modern welded fabrications.

Position them symmetrically on either side of a fireplace, sideboard, or entrance doorway to create architectural height, balance, and ambient illumination.

Wipe down metal surfaces with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip natural patination, and apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax periodically to protect against oxidisation.
