Art Nouveau stick pins gained immense popularity during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, prized for their organic motifs, asymmetrical lines, and incorporation of semi-precious stones like chrysoprase, reflecting the artistic movements rejection of mass-produced industrial design.

Craftsmen typically used 9-carat or 15-carat gold, sterling silver, and a variety of gemstones including peridot, amethyst, pearls, and chrysoprase, often mounting them on steel pin stems for structural rigidity.

Authentic pieces by Charles Horner typically feature makers marks such as the C.H monogram alongside hallmarks indicating metal purity and assay office stamps, commonly associated with the silversmithing hub of Chester.

These versatile accessories can be worn secured to lapels of tailored jackets, anchoring silk scarves, or pinned to the collars of blouses to add a subtle touch of historical craftsmanship to contemporary outfits.

Store them individually in lined jewellery boxes to prevent the pin stems from bending or scratching other pieces, and clean them gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that could damage softer gemstones.
