Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton Revival furniture dates from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, replicating the late 18th-century designs of Thomas Sheraton. The style is characterised by geometric symmetry, slender tapered legs, refined proportions, and extensive use of decorative veneers such as satinwood.

These pieces primarily feature West Indian or East Indian satinwood veneers over pine or oak carcasses. Accent inlays often utilise contrasting timbers including rosewood, boxwood, ebony, and tulipwood, secured with traditional hide glues.

Authentic period marquetry shows slight variations in hand-cut veneer thickness and fine joinery lines. Original brass hardware will display natural patination, and drawer linings will show signs of hand-planing and period construction techniques.

Position the desk against a neutral backdrop or within a dedicated reading corner to let the detailed timber grain stand out. Juxtaposing the warm golden tones of satinwood with contemporary minimalist seating or modern desk lighting creates a balanced scheme.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and fluctuating heat sources to prevent the veneer from bleaching or lifting. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly twice a year to protect the original finish.
