Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A chamberstick is a portable candleholder featuring a shallow pan to catch wax drips, a ring handle for carrying, and frequently an attached conical snuffer, used historically to light the way through dark hallways in large Victorian houses before the advent of electricity.

These items were typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as silversmithing, stamping, repousse work, and chasing, often bearing hallmarks that record the maker, city, and year of assay.

Authentic pieces feature crisp hallmarks stamped into the metal surface, appropriate weight distribution, traditional construction methods, and natural signs of age-related wear such as light surface scratching and minor polishing marks.

Place the chamberstick on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or bookshelf to add metallic texture and historical contrast to contemporary decor schemes.

Maintain antique silver by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and applying specialised silver polish sparingly only when necessary, avoiding abrasive materials that can damage delicate chased details and historic hallmarks.
