Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This table lamp originates from the 1920s in the French Art Deco style, combining wrought iron with glass in a black and yellow colour scheme. The piece employs a dark wrought-iron stand with a square base, upright supports, a rounded finial on top, and stylised leaf details beneath the shade. An illuminated mottled yellow ovoid glass shade tops the structure, with a signed surface and a black twisted cord running away from the base. The lamp stands 34.5 cm high, measuring 10 cm wide and 10 cm deep. Suitable for domestic settings today, this item functions well as a decorative lighting accent on a sideboard top, desk, or bedside table in a living room, study, or bedroom. The Art Deco glamour design provides warm ambient light while serving as a sculptural decorative element during daylight hours. Placed on a flat surface, the compact footprint occupies minimal space while introducing period character into contemporary or traditional interiors.

FAQs

French Art Deco lighting from this era features geometric silhouettes, stylised floral motifs, and heavy wrought-iron bases paired with hand-blown or pressed glass shades.

These lamps typically combine hand-forged wrought iron or bronze with acid-etched, mottled, or pate-de-verre glass shades designed to diffuse light softly.

Authentic examples often feature etched or cast signatures on the glass, heavy forged metalwork displaying hand-hammered details, and period-appropriate electrical fittings.

Position the lamp on a minimalist sideboard, dark timber desk, or bedside table to create an accent piece that provides warm ambient illumination.

Dust the ironwork gently with a dry microfibre cloth and wipe the glass shade using a damp cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could damage surface finishes.
