FAQs

Art Deco lighting is characterised by sleek geometric lines, stylised human or animal figures, and a synthesis of modern industrial materials with luxurious finishes, popular during the 1920s and 1930s.

These lamps typically combined cold-painted or patinated spelter and bronze-toned metals for the figures, mounted on heavy marble or onyx bases, and paired with mottled glass or alabaster globes.

Authentic pieces usually feature period-correct wiring methods, makers marks or foundry stamps, genuine patination consistent with age, and high-density stone bases rather than modern synthetic resins.

Place the lamp as a statement accent on a dark wood sideboard or mantelpiece to provide a focal point that contrasts clean modern lines with historic craftsmanship.

Dust metal components gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical polishes that can strip original patination, and clean glass globes carefully with mild soapy water.
