Georgian Plain Barrel Bowl Tumbler

Description

This is a Georgian, plain glass ale or beer tumbler dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1780.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base commensurate with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the base.

The glass has a barrel-shaped bowl measuring 6.7 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter at the top rim. The bowl is plain and ends in a base that measures 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter. The glass is 10.2 cm (4.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a collector's sticker on the glass near the base and another to the underside of the base.

English lead glass weighing in at 285 g. (~ 10 oz.).
