Victorian Cranberry Glass And Silver Plated Double Stand R. Richardson, Sheffield, C.1880

A particularly attractive Victorian table centre, made by the noted Sheffield firm Richard Richardson and dating to around 1880–1900.
 
The shaped stand has a wavy edge, four decorative feet and a useful central handle. It holds two removable cranberry glass bowls with ruffled rims and richly moulded sides – very much a luxury item of its day and still an eye-catcher now.
 
Ideal for jams and preserves at breakfast, for sweets and nuts with tea, or as an elegant condiment stand at dinner.
 
Maker: Richard Richardson, Sheffield (stamped R.R. SHEFFIELD EPNS, pattern no. 10619)
 
Date: c.1880–1900
 
Size: stand 16 cm high, 32 × 14 cm; bowls 6 cm high, 14.5 cm diameter
 
Condition: Excellent throughout; no damage to the glass, silver plate bright with just minor signs of age.
 
A beautiful, usable antique that would enhance any Victorian or country-house style interior.
