The World is Made of Glass Ltd. has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age.
The decanter is Prussian shaped with three applied annular neck rings. The shoulders and body are plain as is the base which has a polished out pontil mark to its centre and measures 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter. The decanter is 21.5 cm (8.6 inches) in height without the stopper and 25 cm (10 inches) in height with the stopper inserted.
The stopper is of radially cut mushroom form, and is probably the original. It is of the same age and metal as the decanter and is an excellent fit.
There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
English lead glass decanter weighing in at 695 g. (~ 1 lb. 9 oz).
