Edwardian table salts were typically crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, paired with blown or moulded glass liners. Cobalt blue glass was predominantly selected because the dark hue provided a striking contrast against the silver fretwork and concealed salt corrosion.

Authentic items feature official silver hallmarks indicating the assay office, makers mark, standard mark, and date letter corresponding to the 19011910 period. Additionally, hand-cut pierced lattice patterns and hand-fitted cobalt glass liners are hallmark signs of original period craftsmanship.
