Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Enamel should be cleaned gently using a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical dips or abrasive polishes that can craze or discolour the glass surface. Silver components can be carefully maintained with a non-abrasive silver cloth, taking care to keep polish away from the enamel edges.

These pieces work well as decorative accents when displayed in small groupings on a mirrored tray, dressing table, or bathroom shelf. Their reflective metallic surfaces and coloured enamel tops add subtle jewel-toned accents to modern minimalist or eclectic spaces.

Authenticity is usually verified through hallmarks stamped on the silver components, indicating the assay office, metal purity, and date letter. Additionally, genuine older enamel exhibits microscopic signs of age-related wear, hand-finished mounting, and traditional weight associated with lead crystal.

Antique scent bottles typically combined cut or moulded crystal and glass bases with precious metals such as sterling silver or gold for the collars and caps. The decorative tops frequently featured vitreous enamel work, often created using the guilloche or champleve techniques.

Guilloche is a decorative technique in which a precise, intricate geometric pattern is mechanically engraved into a metal substrate, often covered with translucent enamel. This style gained immense popularity during the Edwardian era and the Art Deco period for luxury dressing table accessories.
