A beautiful French Victorian lady’s writing desk in rosewood, complete with working lock and key. The shaped fall front opens automatically when unlocked, revealing a charming interior with a worn leather writing surface, central open space, and a mix of single and double drawers—all mahogany-lined and smoothly dovetailed. The desk’s two-tier design includes a pair of small upper drawers with bun handles and a lower section with a decorative inlay and curved front. It stands on four elegant cabriole legs joined by a shaped apron that hides an extra drawer. The rosewood has a rich, dark finish with lighter kingwood detailing, giving the piece a lovely contrast. While there are minor signs of age, it’s a solid and stylish bureau that would bring character and elegance to any home office.
