FAQs

Victorian brass candlesticks often feature ornate castings, geometric or faceted elements such as diamonds, and stepped or multi-sided bases reflecting industrial manufacturing advancements of the 19th century.

These items are typically produced from cast brass, often utilizing sand casting methods for the main components, followed by lathe turning and hand-polishing to achieve a reflective finish.

Authenticity is indicated by weight, natural patination in recessed areas, casting flaws typical of period manufacturing, and construction comprising multiple fitted sections rather than a single mould.

They can be grouped on mantelpieces or dining tables to add metallic contrast, combining historical character with modern minimalist or eclectic interior schemes.

Preserve the metal by dusting with a soft cloth and avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip the historic surface oxidation or aged patina.
