A rare set of twelve Irish silver table/dinner forks. With so much antique flatware scrapped and melted in current times, a surviving set of twelve in Old English and Thread pattern is an extremely rare find. Georgian silver produced in Ireland during the 18th and early 19th centuries is characterised by distinctive Dublin hallmarks, robust craftsmanship, and classical proportions influenced by contemporary British designs.

These items are crafted from traditional sterling silver, typically adhering to the 925 standard, and feature hallmarks indicating the assay office, makers mark, and date letter.

Authentic pieces are identified through legible town marks such as the Hibernia for Dublin, standard silver marks, maker stamps, appropriate weight, and correct period-specific handle styling and tine wear.

Antique silver cutlery adds historic contrast to modern minimalist dining tables, pairing well with crisp linen tablecloths, white porcelain dinnerware, and simple glassware.

Preservation requires hand washing with mild soap and warm water, thorough drying with a soft microfibre cloth, and avoiding harsh abrasive dips to maintain the natural oxidisation and patina.
