Victorian Leather Case Walkers Whisky Bottles. Ra Robertson Mountaineer.

This fabulous Victorian leather spirit case which once belonged to prominent mountaineer RA Robertson is beautifully made and holds 2 19th century Walkers Whisky bottles.
This handsome case is made of thick dark tan leather which is monogrammed with an R to the front, has a long shoulder strap, top carrying handle and a brass lock which can be opened and locked using the key.
This case comes complete with it''s two large glass whisky bottles which have white metal collars and corks ends. These bottles are made of beautiful old green glass which show their bubbles and swirls from manufacture, are square in shape and are marked to the bottoms with Walkers, Kilmarnock Whisky and with their batch numbers. These fit snugly and safely inside the leather case which has an inner partition to keep the bottles separate.
Walkers is now known as Jonnie Walker changing their name in the early 1900''s and were one of the first square bottle manufacturers as they took up less space for impor...ting.
The brass lock is inscribed with R.A. Robertson. Kirklands. Gogar Station.
RA Robertson was a prominent mountaineer / Alpinist, the President of the Scottish Mountaineering club Journal in 1897 and an early member of The Alpine Journal.
A very nice quality antique piece that would make a wonderful collector''s piece for a climbing / mountaineering enthusiast or whisky collector.

Date: c1899 / 1900.
Marks: Engraved to brass lock with: RA Robertson Kirklands Gogar Station. Marked to bottoms of the two Whisky bottles with Walkers, Kilmarnock Whisky and their batch numbers or 1800 and 1915.
Dimensions of leather case: Width: 17.5 cm (7''). Depth: 11 cm (4 1/4''). Height plus top handle: 30 cm (11 3/4'').
Total weight: 3126 g.
Condition: Very good used antique condition with signs of use in keeping with age. Some general wear, scuffs, marks and surface cracking to leather. Lock work and comes with the key. Please see pictures.
