We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Edwardian era spans the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, characterised by a transition from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards lighter, more refined neoclassical and novelty designs influenced by continental trends.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver using stamping, casting, and hand-chasing techniques, often featuring a textured striking surface made from glass, ceramic, or grooved metal to ignite safety matches.

Authentic pieces bear official British hallmarks stamped by an assay office, including the makers mark, the standard mark for sterling silver (such as a lion passant), and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of assay.

These small decorative objects work well as sculptural accents on a bookshelf, coffee table, or desk, adding a touch of historical interest and metallic texture to modern minimalist spaces.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away desirable original patination.
