Description

An unusual solid silver Indian box. It is made from silver Indian coins from Hyderabad, and I would date to c1920-1930, the coins were in use 1912-1925. It has been superbly designed so that it looks like a stack of coins. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 1.25 inches (3.1cms) across by a touch under 1 inch (1.8cms) tall and weighs 40 grams. A superbly designed interesting piece.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

An antique coin stack box is a novelty container crafted to resemble a vertical pile of stacked coins, often featuring a threaded or slip-on lid that conceals a small hollow interior for storing keepsakes.

These items are generally fashioned from solid silver, often ranging from sterling standard to regional silver purities, and may feature patination or oxidisation to highlight the engraved details.

Authenticity is typically assessed by examining hallmark stamps, the weight and thickness of the silver, natural age-related tarnish, and the precision of the hand-carved or pressed coin motifs.

Such small decorative objects work well when placed on a desk, bookshelf, or coffee table as a focal point among books and other curated curiosities.

Silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfiber cloth to avoid removing the desired historic patina, and stored in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
