An exceptionally rare Coronation Tankard dating to 1937.
The engraving is extensive with the Kings initials, crown and date within an oak leaf cartouche on one side of the bowl and a complete recording of the Stuart dynasty, from Robert The Bruce in 1306, through to Goerge IV, surrounding a spiders web, on the other side of the bowl.
The applied handle has been engraved with Scottish Thistles, English Roses, Welsh Leeks and Irish shamrocks.
Within the base we have a specially minted silver coin surrounded by oak leaves. Around the foot rim we have the engraving confirming the limited-edition statement and also the Thomas Goody copyright.
A spectacular tankard where only 150 were made...and we suspect very few are still in existence and certainly this is the first example we have seen.
Tankard holds a full pint.
